Masala Tea — A Premium Darjeeling Spiced Chai Blend
Saakya Masala Tea is a luxurious fusion of tradition and sophistication — blending the floral elegance of premium Darjeeling tea with the bold richness of Assam CTC and a harmonious blend of traditional Indian spices. Each spice in this masala tea has been carefully selected for its unique flavour profile and health benefits: clove for warmth and focus, cardamom for its aromatic sweetness, dry ginger for digestive fire, cinnamon for its gentle sweetness and black pepper for its bold warming kick. Handcrafted by Sanjay Bajla — Kalimpong’s certified tea sommelier and founder of boutique An Orange Leaf — this is masala tea elevated to its highest expression.
The Spice Blend Behind Saakya Masala Tea
Cardamom The queen of Indian spices, cardamom brings a distinctive aromatic sweetness and cooling freshness to this masala tea. Known in Ayurvedic medicine for its digestive and respiratory benefits, cardamom is the heart of any great masala chai.
Ginger Dry ginger adds warming digestive fire and a gentle spicy heat that lingers beautifully on the palate. One of the most revered Ayurvedic herbs for immunity, digestion and respiratory health — particularly effective in the cooler mountain climate of Darjeeling.
Clove Bold and intensely aromatic, clove provides depth and warmth while supporting oral health and boosting immunity. A powerful antioxidant that elevates this masala tea beyond ordinary chai.
Cinnamon Sweet, warm and subtly complex, cinnamon adds a natural sweetness that reduces the need for added sugar while supporting healthy blood sugar regulation. Its gentle warmth ties the entire spice blend together beautifully.
Black Pepper The king of spices in Ayurveda, black pepper enhances the absorption of all other spice benefits — including the famous bioavailability boost it gives to turmeric and ginger — while adding a gentle heat that makes this masala tea truly invigorating.

How to Enjoy Your Masala Tea
Traditional Masala Chai Boil 150ml water with 1 teaspoon masala tea for 2 minutes. Add 100ml full-fat milk and simmer for 2 more minutes. Strain into a cup and add jaggery or sugar to taste. For best results brew strong and frothy — the traditional way.
Masala Black Tea Steep 1 teaspoon in 200ml hot water at 90°C–100°C for 3–5 minutes and strain. Serve black with a touch of honey for a cleaner, lighter expression of the spice blend.
Iced Masala Chai Brew double strength, let cool and pour over ice with cold milk and a sweetener of your choice. A refreshing and deeply aromatic summer drink that is surprisingly addictive.
Masala Latte Brew strong, add steamed oat milk and a pinch of cinnamon on top. A beautiful dairy-free masala latte that rivals any café version.
Why Choose Saakya Masala Tea
Most masala teas use low-grade CTC dust, artificial masala flavouring powders and excessive additives that overpower rather than complement the tea. Saakya masala tea uses only premium Darjeeling and Assam CTC tea leaves with real whole and ground spices — blended by a certified tea sommelier in small batches for a perfectly balanced cup every time.
